September Vermont Trout fishing report

There is plenty of cold water on the Battenkill watershed! Yes, there are places in southern Vermont that are unfishable to conservative fishermen...that is indeed true...and the hatchery fisheries are having a tough go at it. BUT, the Battenkill is fine! Water temps are 60-63 degrees and have been above the 65 year average almost all summer. Of all the Trout species wild Brook Trout are the most intolerant of high temps and poor water quality...
The above Brook Trout is an 11" male caught my one of my favorite clients on a Kashner No Hackle. So forget what you have heard...I've got over 40 miles of rivers and streams I can show you!
This is the Norman Rockwell covered bridge in West Arlington....trust me you can NOT wade across this pool!
This view is one of my favorite beats on the lower river...plenty of water
Even some small water spots are fine...so give me a call! I do have open dates.
