August Trout Fishing

Love them or hate them...the Trico hatch in southern Vermont has begun! Most days with beginners and intermediates i avoid them but they are present. I'm seeing spinner falls on the Walloomsac, Battenkill and Mettawee. Mostly in flat water pools below a riffle. Fog, wind and rain kill it but..."What is rain?" Long leaders, 6 and 7X tippets and the ability to hit a target are all required. But remember, most days I avoid them like a person with the flu:) but if you are up for the ultimate chanenge in dryfly fishing...Tricos are the game to play! Here's a peek into my trico box. There are still plenty of caddis around and the fish are still eating them too!
Trips in August are half day (4hr) trips 7 to 11am...and the primary target is the Battenkill...thanks for the view!
